Contributing to the Success of Businesses, assisting them to grow and mature
Contributing – I truly love hashing out solutions, designs, plans, processes, scenarios, strategies, tactics, etc. – as part of a team of people, each of whom brings something to the discussion, all of whom share the same vision (or who are creating one), in a supportive environment, where it’s not about anyone’s ego or agenda. I’m fine leading the team, if that’s the need, but the team is more important than I am.
Success – Whatever the goals of the business are – however they define success. Whether that’s to expand to multi-national, world-beating status; or to have income that is simply a supplement, or to just have something to do until retirement – that’s success, and that’s what I want to support. And if they need assistance in identifying success – developing a strategic plan, validating what they already have on the books – this is a facet of my role as well.
Businesses – Yes, many of the ideas I have and hold dear apply to ordinary people in their everyday lives – but my target market is the business world. That includes any business, at this point. Most particularly, the small business world, and more particularly businesses that are just reaching a point on the growth curve where things are getting very busy, and the real risk of unproductive chaos (and associated panic) are starting to peek around the corner. This includes both for profit and not-for-profit organizations.
Assisting – I don’t want to own the place, and I don’t have all the answers – but I know stuff (particularly about project management, but that’s a set of tools). I want to work with the business team as a facilitator, coach, adjunct, and resource.
Grow – Again, as with success, “grow” can take many forms. Most businesses (especially those who will want my help) are in a growth mode – but whether that’s continual expansion or grooming for purchase, the challenges are different. But growth comes with new challenges and opportunities to make the business better.
Mature – The implication here is that businesses are immature – but that’s not what I mean in this context. Mature means that the business is getting serious about processes, metricity, and a mindset driven by more structured approaches to challenges. Adopting certain platforms, paradigms, reproducible templates, and measurements of success are all part of maturity for a growing business.
