Let’s talk about maturity…
…from a business standpoint.
(Nothing to do with the degree of potty-mouth or the number of pranks you engage in. Necessarily.)
Business maturity is really about how good of a handle a business has on things like strategy, alignment, process, repeatability, efficiency, measurability, and so on.
Now, these sound like buzzwords. And maybe they are, or have been at some point in the history of business.
That does not mean that they have no value. They have stuck around because they are each useful in clarifying aspects of your business. It is that clarity that leads to maturity.
(There are many more and I’m happy to share my list with you, and I want to see yours as well.)
To me, maturity evokes a lot of emotions – most notably calm, serenity, level-headedness… and most importantly, absence of frenzy and panic.
How are these connected?
My assertion is that a mature business, when asked “What’s your strategy?” or “What’s your process for X?” can bring forth a clearly articulated, documented answer – as though the questions were not troubling in the least. There’s no reason to panic, because hey – “we know how to do that and who needs to do it. And if we don’t, we know how to address the problem.”
And the toughest question of all – “How do all these tie together?” should be easy to answer as well.
Once you have this level of clarity – this level of business maturity – you can free your mind to grow, develop new products and new ideas, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go…
…sorry, got carried away, there.
But you get the idea.
Want a hand up the maturity ladder? Let’s talk. I want to help you as you climb.
